THE CASE FOR ABSTRACT ART & WHY CONSIDER IT?
If you are here on my website, I suspect you already have an appreciation for abstract art…. but in case you are new to this form of expression, please allow me to share my personal thoughts.

Have you ever experienced something that you can’t quite put your finger on or put into words? The beauty of abstract art is that we allow ourselves to “see with new eyes” and bring our own interpretation, memories or visions to the piece we are viewing. It can be a truly liberating and soulful experience!
Uncharted Territory (SOLD)
I love how a fellow artist likened abstraction as a “journey without a road map” …. getting lost on the side roads, taking wrong turns, and ultimately finding joy in the unexpected discoveries along the way. As an abstract painter, that really resonates for me! I love this delightful approach toward art as it is very freeing and negates the pursuit of perfection. (See my article on “Why I Paint”)
There is no ‘right or wrong’ perspective about abstract art – as the viewer, You alone have the opportunity to get in touch with how a piece makes you “FEEL”. It may not be something comfortably recognizable like a flower or landscape, but it has the ability to tap deeply into our emotions.
Imagination is a dying gift and abstraction can reignite one’s ability to think creatively, feel deeply, and ponder in a way that is sensory and authentic.
