THE CREATIVE BEAT GOES ON

Soooo, wow - this is a big post for me! I effectively “retired” almost 2 years ago since moving here to Mexico, and am still reflecting on everything it means to leave a place you’ve called your CAREER for so many years (in my case 40+) and move on to an entirely new adventure. One word: LIBERATING!! 🤩

For those of you that know me, I poured myself into my interior design practice and the development of Lamb Design Group for decades. It was an exciting ride that took me places I never imagined possible (hello Four Seasons Hualalai, a G4 jet design and villas in Tuscany)…. and those are just pinnacles of my own story now and memories I will always hold dear to my heart as I move into my new chapter.

The more I’ve thought about it, leaving your business / career behind doesn’t involve mere ‘change’; it involves transition, and those are very different things! At the end of the day, change is situational…. like moving to a new city or adopting a new pet. But TRANSITION is psychological and requires an inner reorientation and a sort of ‘self-redefinition’. It requires a fresh attitude!

Here is my biggest take-away. In this “next stage” of our lives, we need to be prepared to move away from the original ‘identity’ we spent a lifetime creating. (Big ‘aha’ moment here!) 🤔 That may sound simple or obvious, but when you are in that space figuring it out, it comes with new introspection…. and most definitely with new WINGS!

I am an optimist by nature (thanks for that gene Mom!), and I truly believe that my best life is in front of me….. painting intuitively and expressing myself creatively through my artwork.
